Psalm
139:16
Thine
eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members
were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none
of them.
Sonia
played violin beautifully, but few ever got to hear her. She practiced day and
night. She worked on her talent and technique constantly. She decided that when
she could play her pieces perfectly, then she would allow others to listen to
her. The problem was that Sonia set her own standards for perfection, and she
was never satisfied. Many people were deprived of much beauty because Sonia was
afraid to perform before she thought she was perfect.
If
we wait until we're perfect before we move out into the world to share our
talents, we won't ever get too far. Even more important, we should be very
thankful that our acceptance by God is not conditional on how close to being
perfect we are. God knows that we have a long way to go, but He is willing to
accept us anyway. Our names are written in the book of life the minute we turn
our lives over to Christ, not when we become perfect. Rejoice! The Lord loves
you just as you are.
Prayer:
I am far from perfect, Lord, but I am striving to always grow and be better
each day. Help me and bless me in that pursuit. Amen.
