MEDITATE FOR SUCCESS FOR 1/4/16

Meditate On

…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…

Hebrews 12:1–2

            Living The Extraordinary Life

Have you always longed to live a life that’s beyond the ordinary? Well, you can. You can live in the realm of the extraordinary and even the impossible by the power of the Holy Spirit when you keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith!

The disciple Peter was able to walk on water as long as his eyes were on Jesus. Remember that Peter was just an ordinary man like you and me. But as long as he looked to Jesus, the Holy Spirit was able to work and Peter could do the impossible. And he was doing fine until he took his eyes off Jesus and considered the boisterous wind (Matthew 14:30). The devil must have whispered in his ear, “You’re not supposed to be walking on water. Don’t you know that? Look at the huge waves. Feel the strong wind. You are going to drown!” And the moment Peter took his eyes off Jesus and looked at his natural circumstances, logic took over and told him that he could not walk on water. That’s when he began to sink.

Beloved, realize that the Spirit of God works to the measure you keep your eyes on Jesus. Today, if you’re being rocked by 10-foot waves of sickness, debt or depression, don’t fix your eyes on the storm. Keep your eyes instead on the Lord. As you meditate on His glory and grace, faith will arise. And you will see His Spirit empower you with His wisdom, His strength and His limitless resources to walk in victory over every single storm!

Love has been perfected among us in this…as He is, so are we in this world.

1 John 4:17

            Keep Your Eyes On Jesus

When you look at yourself (your weaknesses) and your negative circumstances, it’s easy to become seized with anxiety, fear and despair.

That’s why God wants us to look away from ourselves and look at Jesus. In God’s eyes, because He has placed us in Christ, Jesus’ reality is our reality today—“as He is, so are we in this world”!

So don’t focus on your vulnerability or the lack in your life and get discouraged. Ask yourself: Is Jesus abandoned, forgotten, sick and poor today? No, He is at the right hand of the Father, full of life, peace, joy and favor. All of heaven’s resources are at His disposal. He is greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved by the Father today, and so are you!

To be Jesus-occupied like this is to see as God sees. And when you see as God sees, you will also see the grace and supply of the Lord swallow up every lack in your life!

Jesus also said, “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he’s asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.

Mark 4:26–28, NLT

            Toward The Hundredfold

First the blade, then the head, and then the full grain in the head of wheat.

Just as a seed takes time to sprout and grow, it may take some time before the healing you are trusting God for manifests fully. And just as a new farmer may see a thirty or sixtyfold yield before he sees a hundredfold yield, it may take some time before you experience 100 percent wholeness.

My friend, don’t say, “Why is my healing taking so long?” and give up. Press on toward the hundredfold. As you get 30 percent better, trust God for the 60 percent, and then the 100 percent.
Know that God is a God of His Word, and His Word proclaims that you have been healed by Jesus’ stripes (2 Peter 2:24)!

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

3 John 1:2, NASB

            His Perfect Will For You

You need look no further than 3 John 1:2 for a prayer that reflects what God’s heart for you clearly is. This verse is the reason you can know without a doubt that He wants you healed, healthy and fully provided for, just as much as He wants your soul to prosper!

Don’t go by human experiences to know if God wants His people healed today. If you say, “Well, I know of Christians who are sick,” I can point you to many others whom God has healed. We’re not called to base our believing on human experiences. We’re called to believe God’s Word.

Beloved, never put your eyes on people and their experiences, even good ones. The basis of your faith must always be God’s Word. If you are sick today, don’t focus on your symptoms or compare yourself with someone else.

Meditate on His healing promises and believe that God still heals and blesses today because His Word says so!

...He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work...Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

2 Corinthians 9:6–10

            The Secret Of Sowing

The resources God blesses you with today contain both bread and seed for you. So don’t consume all you have as bread. Have the wisdom to sow seeds that will provide you with both bread for the future and more seed to sow again.

The Bible tells us plainly that “he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” God’s Word encourages us to give purposefully, “not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” Now, look at the provision promise that God gives when you sow bountifully: “God is able to make ALL GRACE ABOUND toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Beloved, the key to experiencing God’s provision promise can be traced to how a person sows the seeds he receives. When your seed is sown, God promises that He will multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness!

There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.

Proverbs 11:24

            Be Big-Hearted Like God

When God made this world, He made it with more than enough of everything we need. He splurged! He is an extravagant God. He is not going to wake up one day and say, “My goodness, I forgot to put enough oil in the earth!” Let me tell you this: God is never caught off guard. He has more than enough supply for all your needs in this world!

I want you to know today that your loving heavenly Father is a big-hearted, generous God of abundance. When you have a revelation of how He is so full of love, power and provision, you won’t live life constantly worried about your needs, or envious of others when you see them blessed. When you know that all of heaven’s resources are yours to enjoy because of the cross of Jesus, you can have a generous heart, a big heart, like your Daddy God. And according to today’s verse, when you have a big heart, you become a candidate for even more that God has.

So meditate on God’s abundance toward you and open up your heart today. Be a giver. Be a blessing. Rejoice with others when they are blessed. See yourself blessed and provided for because of Jesus and before long, you will see it on the outside!

Then the Lord appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you…So Isaac dwelt in Gerar.

Genesis 26:2–3, 6

Stay Put, Trust Jesus And Reap A Hundredfold!

Looking at the cracks that lined the parched earth, Isaac thought, “This famine is bad. Perhaps I should leave Gerar and go down to Egypt and plant my crops there.”

But when he looked up, the Lord appeared and said, “Do not go down to Egypt...Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you...” So Isaac stayed put in Gerar.

When Isaac had stayed in Gerar for some time, he “planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.” Do you see that? Despite the severe famine, Isaac’s crops flourished and he had a most bountiful harvest!

Beloved, stay put where God has called you—don’t run to the world for help but keep depending on the Lord and His abounding favor. Don’t give up on God. When your faith is in the One who multiplied the loaves and fish and who knows everything, you will flourish even in times of famine!

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

Ephesians 4:26–27

            Anger Management

When you encounter someone who is nasty to you, how do you normally react? Many of us tend to get angry, and if we really lose our cool, we end up saying or doing things we regret later.
My friend, the Bible says, “Be angry, and do not sin.” It’s not a sin to feel anger, but don’t allow that anger to cause you to sin. And don’t give place to the devil by letting that anger take root in your heart.

“How do I do that Pastor Prince?”

Focus your attention on how much God loves you!

Once, I was walking to my car and I saw a man walking in front of me with his wife. His car was parked next to mine. When he opened his car door, he did it with such force that it hit my car with a loud “thud!” Then, he glared at me as if I had wronged him. Without a word of apology, he got into his car and slammed the door. His wife quickly went into the car like a meek little lamb.

I was on my way to church, full of the Holy Ghost, ready to preach on God’s love. But now, I was angry! I sat in my car, nostrils flaring. I said, “Lord, I am angry!” The Lord said to me, “Do you know that I love that man?” I said, “Yeah, but I don’t want to know about it right now, Lord.” The Lord then told me that the reason that man behaved that way was that he really did not know how much He loved him. So he was grouchy. He was angry. He was bitter toward life.

“Now, you experienced it only once,” the Lord said, “Imagine living with him like his wife does.” Then, He said, “Son, do you know that I love you? You are blessed because compared to him, you know how much I love you.” As I focused on God’s love for me, my anger melted away.

Beloved, in moments of anger, the devil wants you to focus on what the other person has done to you. But God wants you to focus on what He has done for you at Calvary. Today, feed on His love for you, and let Him turn every bitter situation sweet!

Then Jesse said to his son David, “Take now for your brothers an ephah of this dried grain and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp. And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand...”

1 Samuel 17:17–18

            Submission Releases God’s Favor

You are probably familiar with the story of David and Goliath. But do you remember how this shepherd boy ended up on the battlefield to begin with?

David was there to deliver bread and cheese to his brothers who were in the army. And yet, David found himself standing on the battlefield as Israel’s representative against the haughty Goliath. From delivering bread and cheese, he was now called upon to deliver the entire nation of Israel.
David was at the right place at the right time because he humbled himself and submitted to his father’s instructions to deliver bread and cheese to his brothers.

Beloved, this is something you need to understand. Submission to God-appointed leadership will always cause God’s favor to flow in your life, and you will find yourself, like David, at the right place at the right time, empowered by God to do the right thing!

Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success [qarah] this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”

Genesis 24:12

            Pray For Qarah Each Day

Would you like to know how you can pray for and experience God’s divine positioning for good success?

In Genesis 24, we read about how Abraham sent his servant to look for a bride for Isaac, his son. The servant arrived at a well outside the city of Nahor in the evening and decided to stop there. There were so many young women gathered to draw water there that he did not know who would be the right woman for Isaac. So he prayed this prayer: “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”

The word “success” here is the Hebrew word qarah. And with the Lord’s qarah or positioning for right happenings, the servant found a beautiful, virtuous woman named Rebekah, who became Isaac’s bride.

Beloved, we need the Lord to give us qarah every day. So I encourage you to pray the prayer of that servant every day. Tell the Lord, “I’m looking to You, Lord Jesus, to give me success—qarah—this day,” and depend on His unmerited favor to cause you to be at the right place at the right time. He will cause your paths to cross with that of the right people who will be a blessing to you and to whom you can be a blessing!

Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”

2 Kings 4:6–7

            Wisdom To Contain God’s Provision

When it comes to provision, God’s word is chockfull of wisdom and encouragement. It not only gives you pictures of God’s inexhaustible supply, but it also provides wisdom in managing what comes into your hands.

In the story found in 2 Kings 4:2–7, Elisha told a poor widow to get as many empty vessels as she could, and pour her last jar of oil into the vessels. She did as told and miraculously, the oil kept flowing. It stopped only when she ran out of vessels. Elisha then told her to sell the oil, pay her debt and live on the surplus.

I want you to see two important things here. Firstly, the supply stopped only when the demand on God’s supply stopped. I want to encourage you to never stop looking to Jesus for your supply.
Secondly, if you are in debt, your first priority is to settle your debt. Notice that Elisha told the widow, “Sell the oil and pay your debt.” And when you have cleared your debt, learn to live within your means.

Beloved, the more you meditate on and heed the practical wisdom in God’s Word, the more you will be able to contain His provision.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

Ephesians 1:17–19

            The Spirit Of Wisdom

If God tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, then it behooves us to know and operate in the “spirit of wisdom.” But do you know what the “spirit of wisdom” is?

Look at the prayer (above) that the apostle Paul prayed over the church in Ephesus. The spirit of wisdom and revelation is in the knowledge of Jesus!

Beloved, the more you know Jesus and have a revelation of His unmerited favor in your life, the more you will have the spirit of wisdom. I challenge you to pray this prayer for wisdom on a regular basis because when you increase in the knowledge of Jesus, He will surely lead you to good success in every aspect of your life.

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Romans 6:14

His Grace Will Win You Over

I love the story of the woman caught in adultery for the way our Lord loved her. While others wanted her dead, Jesus didn’t. He defended her and gave her the gift of no condemnation so that she would have the power to “go and sin no more”.

He looked tenderly into her eyes and asked her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more” (John 8:10–11).

You see, the power to stop sin from destroying your life comes from receiving the gift of no condemnation from Jesus. This is the Lord’s grace, my friend. This is His unmerited favor! The legalist will say that God will not condemn you only if you stop sinning. However, Grace says, “I have taken your condemnation on the cross. Now, you can go and sin no more.”

God’s Word says that “sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace [unmerited favor].” So if you are still struggling with sin, it is time to stop depending on your self-efforts. Fall upon Jesus’ unmerited favor like this woman did.

When you know that Christ has made you righteous apart from your works, and that He does not condemn you but loves you unconditionally, that will give you the ability to overcome every sinful temptation, habit and addiction in your life!

And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

Mark 11:21–23

            Move Your Mountains

Like many believers, you may have heard the teaching on mountain-moving faith based on Mark 11:22–23. I don’t know about you, but it always intrigued me: Why did Jesus curse the fig tree before He taught on mountain-moving faith?

One day, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes. The first time fig leaves are mentioned in the Bible, they speak of self-righteousness—after Adam sinned, he covered himself with fig leaves. Adam’s covering was a bloodless one, and without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22). That’s why God had to clothe him with animal skin instead, which meant the shedding of innocent blood. One speaks of righteousness by works, while the other speaks of righteousness by the shed blood of the Lamb.

So the fig tree here is a picture of self-righteousness. And what Jesus was saying is that before your faith can flow like a river, you have to curse (or get rid of) self-righteousness in your life and embrace His gift of righteousness!

Beloved, keep believing, meditating on and declaring that you are righteous in Christ apart from your works. This revelation is what causes faith for every breakthrough you need to rise effortlessly in your heart, and the mountains in your life to move!

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

Isaiah 54:17

            Be Righteousness-Conscious

If you are familiar with today’s verse, you’ll know that believers usually quote only the first part: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

Now, do you want to know the secret to unleashing this promise of protection, and walking fully in your inheritance in Christ?

It is actually right there in the second part of the verse: “‘…every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord.”

You see, it’s when you know that your righteousness is from the Lord that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and every tongue of accusation, judgment and condemnation that rises against you will fail!

My friend, use your faith every day to believe that you are indeed righteous in Christ, and that this righteousness is of the Lord’s doing, not your own doing. This is how no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

This is how you live an overcoming and victorious life!

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

The Most Responsible Thing You Can Do

If I don’t worry about my kids and their studies, I’m not being a responsible mother.
If I don’t work overtime seven days a week to make more money for my family, I’m not being a good father.

My friend, the desires you have to take good care of your family are valid. But by worrying and being stressed out, not only do you harm your health and relationships, but you also constrict the supply of God’s grace in your life. God cannot work freely in your life when you are “in the way”, worrying and getting stressed as you do things out of fear.

Beloved, the most responsible thing that you can do for yourself and your family is to let go and rest! REST in God’s love and favor toward you and your family. Recognize that where you can’t, He can, and He wants to protect and provide for you and your loved ones—all the time.

So step aside and let Jesus do for you what you cannot do for yourself. And when you let Him do it, not only will there be more results, but you will also experience more rest and peace!

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Mark 4:39–40

            Kept In Perfect Peace

I believe that one reason Jesus could calm the storm in this much-loved story was that He was the only one in the boat who was at peace. And what was within Him overflowed and affected the storm outside.

After Jesus had stilled the storm for His disciples, He corrected them for letting their hearts be troubled. And in His loving rebuke, He shows us how we can always have peace in our hearts. He asked His disciples, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” In other words, “Why do you take so little from Me?”

Beloved, God loves you dearly and has already supplied you with His health, healing, provision and protection through the cross of Jesus.             Work At Resting

There are so many things to do every day—prepare breakfast, drive the kids to school, finish up your presentation, chair a meeting, meet a client, counsel a friend…It’s like we’re always working on something!

Actually, if there’s one thing that we ought to prioritize working on every day, it is working at being at rest! Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? How can you work at resting?

Yet, that is exactly what God wants us to do. Given our inclination to work, worry and rush to finish all our tasks every day, He wants us to prioritize spending time with Him, and letting His love and words of grace flush out all our agitations, worries and fears.

My friend, make laboring to enter God’s rest number one on your to-do list every day. When you are at rest, God’s grace can flow unhindered through you to accomplish—with ease—all that needs to be accomplished for the day.

Rest is His provision for you today. Receive it and thank Him for it!

My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

Psalm 89:34

            Our Covenant-Keeping God

When God promised to give Abraham land, Abraham asked, “God, how can I be sure?” And as if His word wasn’t good enough, God went one step further and cut a covenant with Abraham, binding Himself irrevocably to it to reassure His friend that He would do as promised (Genesis 15:7–8, 18).

Let me say something about God’s covenants. They can never be broken, only replaced with a better one. My friend, God will do as He has promised you, and to set your heart at ease, He bound Himself to a covenant with you when He cut it with your representative, Jesus, at Calvary.

So rest easy in the knowledge that you have a covenant-keeping God who CANNOT break His covenant or renege on His promises. Simply lean on His faithfulness and like Abraham, you will walk in your inheritance and healing.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with…and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4–7

            Don’t Settle For Five-Minute Grace

One reason many Christians fret and worry instead of turn to God when they face challenges is that they see His grace as limited. Just as they see their time as limited, their savings as limited and the earth’s natural resources as limited, so they rationalize that God’s grace must also be limited. How unfortunate it is when modern-day believers understand the word “grace” in terms of car parking charges—the five-minute “grace” period before the charges apply!

Beloved, when it comes to the Lord’s grace, you must know that it is UNLIMITED! It’s INFINITE! Who can fathom the depths of His immeasurable grace?

That’s why God doesn’t want you to take just a pinch of His grace once in a while and worry the rest of the time. No, He wants you to take an abundance of it every single day for every single situation! Don’t take just “five minutes” of grace.

Take an abundance of it. That’s how you live at rest and reign in life!
